The Scottish Festival will be returning to Cambridge this year after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With most COVID-19 restrictions lifted in the province, Cambridge is booking a full slate of events through the spring to fall.

The events will follow provincial and regional public health restrictions, according to the City of Cambridge, and event organizers will be provided with a copy of the city’s COVID-19 guidelines for outdoor special events.

The city has also cautioned regulations can change at any time and organizers may be required to modify event plans based on provincial or public health guidelines.

Cambridge events and festivals are back on this year

Events are back this summer as the community hopes to move on from the pandemic.

Cambridge council is expected to approve noise bylaw exemptions for a number of popular events next week.

Starting from the Kin Carnival at Riverside Park in May, to CIBC’s Run for the Cure in early October, festivals and events will reemerge across the city following a long, two-year hiatus, filling up the streets with live music and food vendors once again.

Spring Shop and Egg Hunt

The Spring Shop and Egg Hunt will take place at the Newfoundland Club on Sunday April 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Filled with an Easter egg hunt, prizes and pictures with the Easter bunny, visitors can also win an Easter basket and prizes from a raffle table full of treats from local vendors.

All proceeds from the raffle table and Easter baskets will support the Cambridge Foodbank.

Entrance to the Spring Shop and Egg Hunt is free.

Hespeler Optimist Club Annual Easter Party

On Saturday April 16, from 10 a.m. until noon, in the Beehive Hall at the Hespeler Arena, the Hespeler Optimist Club will be hosting its annual Easter Party which includes brunch with the one and only, Easter bunny.

The free event for children includes music, bingo crafts, games, and prizes.

Continental breakfast will be offered to adults.

Donations will be collected to help support the Cambridge Foodbank.

Hespeler Village Easter Event

On Saturday April 16, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Melissa Francis Team from Re/Max Twin City Realty Inc. is hosting an Easter event downtown at the Square in Hespeler Village.

Families will receive one free build-your-own peep house, photos with the Easter bunny, Easter goodie bags for kids, and a Re/Max Kidzone filled with balloons, bubbles, and hot chocolate.

On Saturday April 9, from 10 am to 12 pm, the Temple Baptist Church is hosting an Easter Family Event at 400 Holiday Inn Drive in Cambridge. Families are invited to have some Easter fun at the drop-in family event.

Snow events to begin in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo Thursday night

Ahead of Thursday’s expected snowfall, the cities of Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo, Ont., have all declared snow events that prohibit parking on city streets.

The snow events in Kitchener and Waterloo come into effect at 9 p.m. while Cambridge’s will start at midnight.

The times mark deadlines for cars to be off the streets or potentially face the consequences, which could include a fine or being towed if snowplows are unable to effectively clear a road.

The cities declare snow events in the event major storms are in the forecast but Waterloo notes that they typically end quickly. In the case of the major storm which hit the area in January, they were extended by an extra day.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning that covers most of southern Ontario including the Waterloo Region.
