B2Digital Expands LIVE Events Strategy With New Combat Sports Friday Nights Featuring Top Former B2FS Stars

B2Digital Expands LIVE Events Strategy With New Combat Sports Friday Nights Featuring Top Former B2FS Stars

TAMPA, FL, Aug. 02, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — via NewMediaWire – B2Digital Incorporated (the “Company” or “B2Digital”) (OTCMKTS:BTDG), the premier development league for mixed martial arts (“MMA”), is excited to announce that, starting this weekend (Friday, August 5), the B2 Fighting Series (B2FS) LIVE Event weekend schedule will feature Combat Sports events on both Friday and Saturday: Going forward, every event weekend will kick off on Friday night with a special showcase of top fighting talent engaged in Professional Grappling, Kickboxing, and/or Boxing. That will be followed by a full B2FS MMA Fight Night event on Saturday night.

“Adding Combat Sports Friday Nights gives the fans something they want while roughly doubling the number of revenue-producing events we have each quarter despite having a minor impact on our costs – our fixed cost structure for any weekend B2FS event doesn’t change much whether we sell tickets for both Friday night and Saturday night or just for Saturday night,” noted Greg P. Bell, Chairman and CEO of B2Digital. “It also gives us a great excuse to showcase some of the best talent that ever stepped into a B2 cage: our graduates. The best B2FS fighters eventually get called up to the big leagues to fight under the brightest lights in the sport. These Friday night events will offer them the chance to come back and thrill B2 fans once again.”

Management anticipates this new Live Event weekend schedule will carry advantages for both top- and bottom-line performance. The major costs involved in staging a new event have to do with traveling, transporting equipment, venue operations, equipment setup, and local marketing. These costs are relatively stable whether the company sells tickets for two nights of events or just one.

This model will also give the Company more content to monetize through other channels while nearly doubling the number of revenue-producing days over any given fiscal period.

In addition, the Company will be very excited to welcome many former B2FS superstars back under the B2 Fighting Series lights for these Combat Sports Friday night events. Some have already agreed to take part.

Bell continued, “As we exit the Gym and Fitness business to focus entirely on our LIVE Event strategy, the addition of star-studded combat sports events on Friday nights will help to drive accelerating revenue growth and to build out our fanbase by diversifying into Grappling, Kickboxing, and Boxing. At the same time, we should see improving margins on a per-Event-weekend basis and overall. Finally, we are in the process of developing some new and exciting ways to monetize the sharp jump in our base of produced combat sports content coming our way, and we will have more details related to this soon.”

Alpenfest Fun Continues with Big Friday Events – 9 & 10 News

Alpenfest Fun Continues with Big Friday Events - 9 & 10 News
Alpenfest Idol and Queen’s Pageant round out the week

What started years ago as a karaoke contest, has evolved into one of the main events at Alpenfest in downtown Gaylord.

Alpenfest 11The festival is in its final days in Gaylord, but they say it’s not really summer until Alpenfest comes to town.

This week’s event pay tribute to the community’s heritage – along with rides, games, family fun, and crazy contests to keep everyone busy. One of those is the Alpenfest Idol: a popular singing contest.

There are four different age groups for soloists – and two different competition groups for larger groups.

“I think these are hometown favorites because this is where we get the hometown participation,” said Alpenfest Committee member and Idol director Stacey Rosin. “You know these are kids from the area and people who come up for the summers, and they come partake. This is where they can show their stuff.”

Rosin says this year’s Idol is extra special because two of the founders of the event both passed away within the last year. With the tornado that hit Gaylord, it’s been a challenging start to summer, but Alpenfest gives them something to celebrate.

“I love this community because the tornado really showed who we were. The strength that we have. And I think this is kind of a time where now we can come together and celebrate what we accomplished,” Rosin says. “It’s also a time for people to gather and be reminded of why we need to be there for each other.”

Boston Area Fourth of July Events Begin in Searing Heat Friday

Boston Area Fourth of July Events Begin in Searing Heat Friday

There are so many things to do this weekend to celebrate Independence Day in the Boston area, but the weekend kicks off with temperatures soaring into the 90s Friday.

At Christopher Columbus Park, there will be a concert and fireworks display Friday evening as a part of Boston Harborfest. The Fourth of July Festival celebrating Boston’s harbor and history kicks off Friday with events at Downtown Crossing, including the turn-around sail of the USS Constitution.

Meanwhile, Friday night and Saturday is Boston JerkFest, with incredible Caribbean food at the Harvard Athletic Complex. And of course, the crown jewel of Boston’s Fourth of July celebrations is the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on Monday at the Esplanade.

Thursday was expected to be one of the busiest travel days on the road for the Fourth of July weekend. Triple A Northeast predicts drivers in the Boston area could experience up to 3x the usual traffic on some roadways both Thursday and Friday.

But the weather is going to be hot with temperatures in the 90’s Friday, and the weekend in the 80’s and humid. The NBC10 Boston weather team issued a First Alert Friday for the searing temperatures.

For those attending any of these outdoor events, experts say to want to watch for signs of heat stroke. If you’re not sweating, you have dry, hot, red skin, pinpoint pupils, dizziness or a headache, vomiting or fainting, you should seek medical care.

The full schedule of Platinum Jubilee events for Friday

The full schedule of Platinum Jubilee events for Friday

The Queen is marking 70 years on the throne this year, the first time that a British monarch has celebrated a Platinum Jubilee.

For many people around the UK, this means a four-day weekend, thanks to the bonus of an additional bank holiday in Elizabeth II’s honour.

Thousands turned out for the parade through central London on Thursday, and there is plenty planned for the rest of the long weekend.

Here is everything you need to know.

What is happening on Friday?

Friday’s main event is the Service of Thanksgiving, which marks the Queen’s position as a spiritual leader and head of the Church of England.

However, Buckingham Palace has confirmed the Queen herself will not be in attendance.

The service will begin at 11.30am.

Before the service Grand Paul, the biggest church bell in the country, will be rung between 10.50am and 10.55am, for only the eighth time since it was restored in 2021.

There will be live coverage on BBC One, starting at 9.15am.

The Archbishop of York will deliver the sermon, as the Archbishop of Canterbury had to pull out due to contracting Covid-19.

More than 400 people, including key workers, charity volunteers and members of the Armed Forces will be at the cathedral, in recognition of their contribution to public life.

Following the service, the Royal Family is scheduled to attend a Guildhall reception hosted by the Lord Mayor at 12.25pm.

Why is the Queen not attending the Service of Thanksgiving?

Buckingham Palace said the decision was made for the Queen to not attend after she experienced some discomfort after the parade marking the start of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations on Thursday.

In a statement, a spokesperson said on Thursday: “The Queen greatly enjoyed today’s birthday parade and flypast but did experience some discomfort.

“Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s national Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty with great reluctance has concluded that she will not attend.

The 96-year-old monarch has been taking part in fewer public duties in the past few months due to mobility issues.

But she was seen waving to thousands of well-wishers from the balcony of Buckingham Palace on Thursday morning.

She was accompanied by other senior members of the royal family, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their three children, Prince Charles and Camilla and the Duke of Kent, for Trooping the Colour, the yearly event kicking off the celebrations.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also arrived in London from their home in the US to join the celebrations but were not seen on the balcony.

What events are planned for the weekend?

Saturday June 4

  • 5.30pm – The Epsom Derby race takes place. The Queen and her family are expected to head to the racecourse on Derby Day, where the monarch is due to be greeted with a guard of honour.
  • 7.40pm – Members of the Royal Family arrive at the BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace concert.
  • 8pm-10.30pm – The open-air concert in front of the palace – featuring stars including Queen + Adam Lambert, Alicia Keys, Duran Duran and Diana Ross – is broadcast live on BBC One.

Sunday June 5

  • Street parties and Big Jubilee Lunches are staged across the country throughout Sunday.
  • 2.30pm-5pm – The Jubilee Pageant takes place in central London, with a 3km carnival procession featuring a cast of thousands including puppets, celebrities and tributes to the seven decades of the Queen’s reign. It will move down The Mall and past the palace, with the finale featuring a performance by Ed Sheeran and the singing of the national anthem.

What is a jubilee?

The Cambridge Dictionary defines a jubilee as a “celebration of the day on which an important event happened many years ago”.

The word come from the Old French jubileu, meaning “jubilee”, “anniversary” or “rejoicing”, and the Hebrew yobhel, meaning “jubilee,” and formerly “a trumpet” or “ram’s horn”.

The original jubilee, appearing in the Old Testament, was a year of emancipation of Hebrew slaves and restoration of lands, to be celebrated every 50th year.

It was proclaimed by the sounding of a ram’s horn on the Day of Atonement.

The form of the word was altered in Latin by association with the unrelated Latin iubilare, meaning “to shout with joy”.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary says: “French speakers adopted the word as jubilé, and English speakers created jubilee from the French and Latin forms.”

While a jubilee is not specified to relate to royalty or a monarch, this is how it tends to be used in the present day.

How many years is a Platinum Jubilee?

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee commemorates her being on the throne for 70 years, with the main traditional jubilees as follows:

  • Silver Jubilee: 25th anniversary
  • Ruby Jubilee: 40th anniversary
  • Golden Jubilee: 50th anniversary
  • Diamond Jubilee: 60th anniversary
  • Sapphire Jubilee: 65th anniversary
  • Platinum Jubilee: 70th anniversary

Jubilee names will be familiar to many as they follow the same convention as those commonly used to denote significant wedding anniversaries.

The Queen and Prince Philip, for example, marked their platinum wedding anniversary in 2017 – 70 years of married life.

However, the celebration of royal jubilees pre-dates this, with the first recorded commemorations coming in the reign of George III, Queen Victoria’s grandfather.

He marked his Golden Jubilee, the 50th anniversary of his accession, in 1809, with celebrations including a private service and firework display at Windsor.

This is the first time a UK monarch has marked a platinum jubilee, and only a handful of leaders around the world have reached the milestone.

The last was Bhumibol Adulyadej, the late King of Thailand, who passed 70 years on the throne in 2016.

As the longest-serving monarch before Elizabeth II, Queen Victoria marked two significant anniversaries: her Golden Jubilee in 1887 and her Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

The celebrations included royal banquets attended by foreign rulers and military processions through London.

Elizabeth II has had three major jubilees – her Silver Jubilee in 1977, her Golden Jubilee in 2002 and Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

The Queen’s Ruby and Sapphire Jubilees in 1992 and 2017 respectively were commemorated in a more modest fashion.

Queen to miss Platinum Jubilee event on Friday | CBC News

Queen to miss Platinum Jubilee event on Friday | CBC News

Queen Elizabeth stepped gingerly onto the Buckingham Palace balcony Thursday, drawing wild cheers from the tens of thousands who came to join her at the start of four days of celebrations of her 70 years on the throne.

Her fans sported Union Jack flags, party hats or plastic tiaras. Some had camped overnight in hopes of glimpsing the 96-year-old monarch, whose public appearances are becoming rarer.

It was also a chance to watch the Trooping the Colour — a military parade that has marked each sovereign’s official birthday since 1760.

It was an explosion of joy in the massive crowd, one of the first big gatherings in the U.K. since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

“Everybody has got the same mission,” said Hillary Mathews, 70, who had come from Hertfordshire, outside London. “All the horrors that’s been going on in the world and in England at the moment are put behind us for a day, and we can just enjoy really celebrating the Queen.”

Experienced ‘some discomfort’ Thursday

Elizabeth, who became Queen at 25, is Britain’s longest-reigning monarch and the first to reach the milestone of seven decades on the throne.

Yet after a lifetime of good health, age has begun to catch up with her. Buckingham Palace announced late Thursday that the Queen would not attend a thanksgiving church service Friday after experiencing “some discomfort” at events on Thursday. The palace said with “great reluctance” the monarch has decided to skip the service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.

The Queen has had trouble moving around in recent months and has pulled out of many public events.

But Elizabeth took part Thursday night in lighting a chain of ceremonial beacons at Windsor Castle as planned.

The Jubilee celebrations go on for a long weekend, and it was not immediately known how the news would affect Jubilee events on Saturday and Sunday.

Elizabeth symbolically leads the lighting of the principal Jubilee beacon at Windsor Castle on Thursday — the first day of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. (Steve Parsons/The Associated Press)
