Endeavor merges On Location and IMG events group into single division – SportsPro

Endeavor merges On Location and IMG events group into single division - SportsPro

Global sports and entertainment conglomerate Endeavor Group Holdings has merged its premium experiences business On Location with IMG’s events group into one division.

Paul Caine will become president of the new subsidiary, with Jon Lavallee named as its chief financial officer.

Caine previously served as the president of On Location, which was acquired by Endeavor in 2020 for a reported US$660 million, and has also worked as chief revenue officer of Bloomberg and chief executive of Westwood One.

Lavallee was most recently the chief financial officer of On Location, and was previously the chief operating officer of PrimeSport, which merged with On Location.

IMG’s events group owns, operates and represents hundreds of sports, entertainment and fashion events globally.

Earlier this year, On Location was the official hospitality partner of the 2022 Super Bowl, marking the experiences firm’s largest ever event.

On Location’s partnership portfolio spans more than 150 rights holders, and includes the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and the National Football League (NFL).

Last year, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) revealed On Location as its hospitality provider for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as the Milan 2026 Winter Olympics and Los Angeles 2028 Summer Games.

“Bringing together these two dynamic businesses will serve to supercharge our consumer experiences within our extraordinary global events portfolio,” said Mark Shapiro, president of Endeavor.

“Paul and Jon have brilliantly led On Location’s resurgence from the pandemic and I’m confident they will elevate these two highly complementary businesses with the full support of the Endeavor network at their backs.”

When is LIV Golf tour’s next event? Date, location, schedule for second event in Portland

When is LIV Golf tour's next event? Date, location, schedule for second event in Portland

The LIV Golf tour made its debut on June 9 when the Saudi-backed start-up hosted its inaugural event in London. The event lasted three days and saw 2011 Masters winner Charl Schwartzel emerge victoriously to earn the $4 million prize for first place.

The quality of play in LIV Golf London wasn’t the best, but the upstart tour has drawn a lot of intrigue as it looks to challenge the PGA Tour. And LIV Golf is doing its best to make sure that lasts as it secures commitments from players like Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Reed and Rickie Fowler.

Those players should help LIV Golf keep the attention of golf fans as it prepares for its second event. That said, the event won’t take place for a couple of weeks, as LIV Golf’s schedule is different than that of the PGA Tour, which hosts tournaments almost every weekend.

When can you expect to see LIV Golf back in action? Here’s what to know about the tour’s second event as anticipation builds to see its new 48-man field.

When is the next LIV Golf tour event?

The next LIV Golf event will begin on Thursday, June 30. That is exactly two weeks after the first day of the U.S. Open and three weeks after the first day of the inaugural LIV Golf event in London. The three-day tournament will run from June 30 through July 2.

Where is the next LIV Golf tournament?

The next LIV Golf tournament will be held at the Pumpkin Ridge golf club in Portland, Ore. Pumpkin Ridge opened in 1992 and has hosted numerous events on the LPGA circuit over the years. It hosted the U.S. Women’s Open in 1997 and 2003 while also serving as the home of the U.S. Women’s Amateur in 2006.

Additionally, the U.S. Men’s Amateur was held at Pumpkin Ridge in 1996. Tiger Woods defeated Steve Scott in that event to win his third consecutive amateur title.

There are two 18-hole courses on the Pumpkin Ridge golf club property. The “Ghost Creek” course is a Par-71 track that is 6,839 yards long. The “Witch Hollow” course is a Par-72 that is 7,017 yards long. LIV Golf has yet to clarify at which course the tournament will be held.

Vancouver’s 4/20 event returns to Art Gallery location Wednesday | Globalnews.ca

Vancouver’s annual 4/20 event will be held Wednesday at its original downtown location but new organizers will be running it.

A group called the 4/20 Market has come together to plan its own event at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

These organizers say they need to protest against the Canadian government, saying they believe cannabis has become too expensive for B.C.’s most vulnerable population.

The organizers told Global News they see this event as an opportunity to speak up.

“It’s a protest just like every year,” Adilynn McArdle, one of the event organizers said.

“(The) Supreme Court of Canada says every Canadian citizen deserves reasonable access to cannabis and unfortunately our federal government hasn’t yet given us reasonable access. While they’ve legalized it, they’ve kind of locked out all of the people who were standing up in the first place.”

The previous organizers, who shifted the event to the Sunset Beach location, say they were unable to organize their annual April event because COVID-19 regulations were not lifted in time.

Where to hold Vancouver’s annual 4/20 event in the future?

The return of 4/20 is certain to reignite the heated annual debate over whether the event is a protest or an unlicensed festival.

According to a leaked memo from Vancouver city staff, the 2018 event cost taxpayers more than $583,000.

The now-28-year-old event has grown to attract tens of thousands of attendees and high-profile musical acts like Cypress Hill, who performed at Sunset Beach in 2019.
