League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 event details: Skins, missions, rewards

Star Guardian 2022 event teaser in League of Legends

The League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 event is primed to be the biggest of the year. With teasers hyping up the defense of Valoran City, players will be able to grind through missions to earn some great rewards — with skins to purchase along the way. Here’s what we know so far.

As far as League of Legends cosmetics go, Star Guardian is one of the most beloved skinlines. It also has its own intricate lore — no longer is just a squad of superstar shojo-inspired champions doing their thing, but they’re actually fighting back against an evil force.

The 2022 event is set to be a culmination of the storylines more than five years in the making with plenty of new skins, missions, and rewards for players to soak up as the story progresses.

This is what we know about the Star Guardian 2022 event so far in League of Legends, including when it goes live.

League of Legends is getting new Star Guardian skins.
Riot Games

Get ready for the big event of the year in League of Legends: Star Guardian’s return.

League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 skins

The exact skins list for the League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 release hasn’t dropped yet. However, with the trailer going out showing off Valoran City, players are getting ready to welcome a few friendly faces to the force battling back against Zoe.

It’s that exact trailer that has been the source of leaks about what Star Guardian skins are on their way. The following champions were listed in tags for the new trailer: Ahri, Akali, Ekko Fiddlesticks, Kai’Sa, Miss Fortune, Morgana, Nilah, Orianna, Rell, Senna, Seraphine, Sona, and
Taliyah.

What side of the fight each champion will be joining remains to be seen, but the sheer number of skins and promotion means we’re preparing for an event of the scale of 2021’s Ruination.

League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 missions

As part of the League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 event, players will have to grind through missions to progress through the story and earn tokens for rewards. Whether it’ll follow a basic mission structure or a visual-novel style employed by Spirit Blossom in 2020 and Ruination in 2021 remains to be seen.

We will keep you updated with all the mission and story details about the event when they drop.

League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 rewards

Being hyped as one of the biggest events of the year, players should be able to earn a ton of rewards during the League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 event.

While the skins will be gated behind real-money purchases, things like chromas, summoner icons, and more will be available in an in-game shop based on tokens earned throughout the event. We will list the exact rewards available once they’re confirmed.

League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 release date

The League of Legends Star Guardian 2022 event is set to drop on LoL patch 12.13, which goes live on July 13, 2022. The event itself will go live a day after on July 14.

These events typically last around a month, so get ready for the grind all the way through the Summer to help save Runeterra and Valoran City.

Skateboarders flying from around the globe to Langley – Aldergrove Star

Skateboarders flying from around the globe to Langley - Aldergrove Star

For 24-year-old skateboarder Josh Dunstone, Canada is like home-away-from-home. While many tourists come to this country to explore famous landmarks, what amazes the young Australian is Canada’s skateboarding scene.

He has been regularly visiting Canada to participate in freestyle skateboarding competitions. This time he flew all the way to the other end of the world and spent about $3,000 on flights, just for the first-ever ‘7 Generations Cup’ – an Indigenous-hosted three-day pro skateboarding event taking place this weekend at Langley Events Centre (LEC).

And Dunstone is not the only one flying across oceans to compete in the event.

Brothers Jotaro and Shotaro came from Japan with their legal guardian. Just 14 and 11, the two boys will be hitting big bowls, showcasing ollies, and performing other tricks on Saturday and Sunday.

Skateboarding legend Kevin Harris described the boys as the “best in the world in their age category.” Harris, who helped start and promote the highly successful Slam City Jam in Vancouver, and dput B.C. on the map as a mecca for skateboarders, visited Japan in the late 1990s.

“When I was skateboarding, their (Jotaro and Shotaro’s) dad was a teenager. I influenced him and now they are sending their kids all the way here for this competition,” shared Harris.

Harris, a world-record holder and Canada’s first pro skatboarder, has full confidence in the boys.

“They will be killing it on Saturday and Sunday,” he added with a grin.

Dunstone, who will be flying back to Australia on Tuesday – a day after the competition – is looking forward to giving his best in the freestyle category.

Freestyle skateboarding is a style in which skaters perform tricks on flat ground. Dunstone has been practising the skill for 10 years now, and he described the sport as his “lifeblood.”

“It means everything to me.”

He is happy that people have started looking at skateboarding from a broader point of view and including freestyle skating in major events like the 7 Generations Cup.

The Melbourne resident shared that the freestyle scene is “pretty big” in his country and his home city has multiple street spots. He now wants to actively take part in promoting skateboarding as a sport and hopefully encourage more Australians to participate in the Langley contest in future.

While Dunstone spent his Friday at LEC practising for the weekend competition, on the other end of the arena Harris was seen prepping the teenage brothers and a few others.

“Is everything going okay?” asked Harris, while also making hand gestures to communicate with the Japanese competitors who – he said – don’t speak English.

The brothers reply with a thumbs-up gesture.

They all fist bump before heading back to their respective spots – Jotaro and Shotaro hit the rink, playing with their skateboards like it is part of their bodies, and Harris heads down to chat with fellow pro skateboarders.

Practising for the same category, the teenage boys noticed Dunstone as he performed his tricks and cruising towards him from the other end of the arena.

Separated by borders and languages, the international skateboarders share a moment of appreciation for each other with hand gestures. Awed by each others’ professionalism and skills, the trio ended their practice session with a group photograph – which they will take home as a souvenir.

Taking inspiration for its name from the Kwantlen First Nations’ seven laws of life (health, happiness, humbleness, generations, generosity, forgiveness and understanding), the 7 Generations Cup features a variety of events across its three-day span. Those events include an all-terrain contest, a freestyle cup, trick battles, and a competition marking the 35th anniversary of the historic Mini Ramp Challenge – a first-of-its-kind event that took place in Richmond in 1987.

There will also be pow wow dancers, Indigenous drummers and singers, a basket repatriation ceremony, Indigenous vendors, and more.

The competition, which started on Friday, June 10, is scheduled to run both Saturday and Sunday at Langley Events Centre, located at 7888 200th St.

For spectators, single-day tickets start at $26, and three-day passes start at $78. Those interested can purchase tickets and find more information about the all-ages event at 7genskate.com.

Guest Star Chefs Are Creating Unique Culinary Events At Auberge Resorts

Guest Star Chefs Are Creating Unique Culinary Events At Auberge Resorts

When Nina Compton, the James Beard Award winning chef of New Orleans’ Compère Lapin and Bywater American Bistro, sets up shop at Malliouhana, Auberge Resorts Collection in July, she’ll be returning to the Caribbean, the region of her birth, although to Anguilla instead of St. Lucia. For a month, from July 22nd to August 19th, she’ll be the headliner of the resort’s “Flavors of Malliouhana,” a series that started with chef JJ Johnson in March and is intended to reflect the island’s rich culinary traditions combined with a guest chef’s singular focus. She’ll be on property the first three days, doing immersive events and cooking demonstrations with dishes such as ricotta gnocchi with jerk summer corn and tomatoes; her dishes will then remain on the menu for the rest of the month.

It’s an honor to be partnering with Malliouhana, Auberge Resorts Collection,” said Chef Compton. “Having grown up in St. Lucia, where I initially discovered my passion for food, it is an honor to bring my skills back to the Caribbean. I’m excited to partner with Malliouhana to create a memorable menu that not only remains true to my roots but also provides creative twists to some Anguillian classics.”

By creating this series, part of Auberge Resorts Collection’s Taste of Auberge, the hotel group is responding to the growing interest in culinary travel the last few years fueled, according to recent studies, by the increase of food experiences on social media largely by food enthusiast millennials, the rise in discretionary income and proliferation of food festivals. So, a little cross pollination of bringing chefs from other cities in to create their signature dishes with local ingredients and influences, often alongside the resort chef definitely adds to a resort’s appeal. Guests obviously benefit from experiencing the cuisine from in demand restaurants without traveling to that destination and trying to get a reservation.

Just before Nina Compton’s stint at Malliouhana, from July 13th-16th, Tyler Cole’s inventive restaurant Uchi which originated in Austin and now also has branches in Denver, Dallas, Houston and Miami is taking over the Prospect restaurant at Aspen’s Hotel Jerome, Auberge Resorts Collection to showcase his out of the box takes on Japanese cuisine. Also in July, from the 1st to the 10th, New York’s creative, secret cocktail bar Please Don’t Tell is taking over the bar and culinary destinations within Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection on Mexico’s Riviera Maya mixing Mayan influences and distinctive urban mixology.

Diners hoping to score a table at San Francisco’s perennially in demand Saison known for its impeccably sourced ingredients, wood fired cooking and creative $298 tasting menus can get a glimpse of the restaurant’s two star Michelin creations at Commodore Perry Estate, Auberge Resorts Collection on November 4th and 5th. The chefs will be working with local ingredients from the property’s Austin location, conducting a fire cooking workshop and multicourse dinner accompanied by the unique fermentations foraged and created by the restaurant’s team. Also in November, on the 26th, Mexican and New Mexico cuisine will fuse with a collaboration between chef Jorge Vallejo of Mexico City’s Quintonil, a regular on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, and Executive Chef Pablo Peñalosa of the restaurant Skyfire at Bishop’s Lodge, Auberge Resorts Collection in Santa Fe.

Another upcoming collaboration promises to deliver not just an assortment of different flavors but also health-encouraging benefits. Hacienda AltaGracia, Auberge Resorts Collection, the wellness retreat near a long life Blue Zone in Costa Rica, is welcoming chef Shennari Freeman of New York’s Cadence, named one of the best new restaurants of 2021 by the New York Times. Guests can learn the keys to the restaurant’s plant-based Southern soul cuisine with wellness and sustainability as a focus in curated dinners, a cooking class and holistic health workshops. All will be held from July 7th-17th.

Langley flight museum pays tribute to Queen’s platinum jubilee – Aldergrove Star

Langley flight museum pays tribute to Queen’s platinum jubilee - Aldergrove Star

As members of the Royal Family tour Canada this week, news of a queen-inspired gift arrives in Langley.

As this year marks the platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, the federal government announced $2.14 million funding for community events and projects across the country – including an upcoming Canada Day celebration in Langley.

The Canadian Museum of Flight in Langley received $4,100 to host a family-oriented commemoration on July 1, one of many grants announced by Minister of Canadian Heritage Pablo Rodriguez.

“For more than 70 years, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been a model of dedication and a privileged witness to the growth of and accomplishments of Canadians, and to the values that unite us,” Rodriguez said.

“That’s why I’m pleased to announce the funded projects that will allow Canadians across the country to learn more about our sovereign, celebrate this historic anniversary and reflect on the meaning of public service in today’s society.”

The federal government launched the tribute on Feb. 6, and will host numerous events including the Royal Tour, a national illumination initiative, exhibits, commemorative gardens, educational resources, and a commemorative stamp and coins.

There will be a total of 360 community events and three major national projects.

Funds for the flight museum will be utilized towards a display connecting the Crown to aviation in Canada, and how Queen Elizabeth has connected with Canadians, according to the museum website.

The theme of the Canada Day festivities and display will explore each of Queen’s visits to Canada, and the specific use of aircraft to complete each tour.

Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall kicked off the three-day royal tour Monday in St. John’s and are travelling to Canada’s Capital Region today (Wednesday, May 18), followed by Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories on Thursday.
