Competing at home in the Tennessee Relays, the Volunteers and Lady Vols claimed a combined six events Friday at Tom Black Track at at LaPorte Stadium.
The second day of the meet was contested in windy and rainy conditions as Tennessee had top finishes.
Freshman Favour Ashe, making his home debut for the Vols, won the men’s Power Hour 60-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in 10.11 seconds.
In the men’s Power Hour 400-meter hurdles, Tennessee’s Rasheeme Griffith posted a winning time of 51.08 seconds.
The Vols’ Alex Kay won the men’s Power Hour 800-meter run as he posted a time of 1 minute, 50.96 seconds.
In the men’s Power Hour long jump, UT’s Anthony Riley won with a leap of 7.66 meters (25 feet, 1.75 inches.
The Lady Vols had a pair of victories Friday as Latavia Maines won the women’s Power Hour shot put competition with an effort of 17.18 meters (56-4.5) and distance specialist Sydney Seymour was victorious in the women’s Power Hour 1,500-meter run as she finished the event in 4:21.37.
