Meetings

¯ Liberty Township will hold their monthly meeting on Friday, May 6th at 5:00pm.

¯ The Belpre Township Trustees will hold regular scheduled meetings the first Monday of every month at 335 Baker Road, Little Hocking. These meetings are open to the public. For more information, contact the Trustees at the township office, 740-423-6366.

¯ Reno Area Water and Sewer District will be having the regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the Reno Water Office Building at 170 Mount Tom Road. Public is welcome. Practicing social distancing and masks are recommended.

¯ Grandview Township will hold regular meetings at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the township hall. There are three exceptions: February, July and September meetings will be held Feb. 14, July 11 and Sept. 12.

¯ Muskingum Township will hold regular meetings at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month with these exceptions: Wednesday, March 2; Wednesday, July 6; and Tuesday, Sept. 6. Odd month meetings are held at the town hall and even month meetings are held at the Oak Grove Fire Department.

¯ Palmer Township will hold meetings at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the Palmer Community Building, 7153 State Route 676. There are two exceptions: July and September meetings will be held July 7 and Sept. 8. Year-end meeting TBA.

¯ The Marietta High School Class of 1955 will hold meetings at 11:30 a.m. the second Monday of each month at the Harmar Tavern, 205 Maple St. All classmates and friends welcome.

¯ Liberty Township will hold regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month.

¯ Warren Township Trustees will hold meetings at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Township office, 95 Coffman Road, Marietta.

¯ The Village of Lower Salem will meet at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Village Hall for regular council meetings. Area residents are invited to attend.

¯ Decatur Township will hold its monthly public meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the township building on Welch Road in Cutler.

¯ Waterford Township Board of Trustees will meet in regular session at 7:30 p.m. the first Thursday of every month in 2022 at the township building.

¯ Lawrence Township will meet at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department.

¯ The Washington County Joint Vocational School District Board of Education will hold regular monthly meetings for 2022 at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month in the Annex Building Board Room. The June meeting will be held June 9 and/or 27, and the July date is to be determined.

¯ Ludlow Township will hold regular monthly meetings the last day of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall.

¯ Mid-Ohio Valley Citizens Action Coalition will meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month at Freedom Gate Church, Tennis Center Road, Marietta. See the organization’s website for more information.

¯ Watertown Township Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meetings in 2022 at 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month at the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department.

Events

¯The Fearing Volunteer Fire Department is holding its Annual Mother’s Day Dinner on May 8th at 11 a.m. at 1975 Stanleyville Road in Whipple. They will be serving baked steak, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, bread, tea and coffee along with a piece of dessert. The cost for adults is $9 and the cost for Children is $5.

¯ O’Neill Center will sponsor a group trip to Mackinac Island and Frankenmuth, Michigan, June 12 to June 17. The cost is $1,079 per person for double occupancy. Trip includes a Grand Hotel buffet lunch, carriage tour, hydro jet ride, Soo Locks boat tour, Jack Pine lumberjack show, tour and overnight stay in Frankenmuth. ¯ Liberty Township will hold its annual spring cleanup April 30 at the township building. Please do not dump paint, tires or other hazardous products in the dumpster.

¯ Marietta Friends of the Library will host a used book sale April 29-30 and May 2-3 at the Marietta Library annex, 617 Fifth St. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. April 29 for members only (memberships may be purchased at the door). Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 30 and May 2-3. A full bag of books may be purchased for $2 May 3.

¯ The Creston Community Building Spring ATV Poker Run will be held April 30 at 340 Anns Run Road, Creston, W.Va. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon, and the entry fee is $10. ¯ VFW Post #5108 at 319 Pike St., Marietta, will hold a T-bone steak fry fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. April 30. The cost is $15 per person. For carry out or more information, call 740-374-9038.

¯ The O’Neill Center 2022 Quarter Auction fundraiser will be held June 24. The event will include a 50/50 drawing, concessions and extra paddles for sale. ¯ The inaugural Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk will be held May 1 at the Nelsonville Historic Public Square. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. For registration and more information, visit t2trun.org.

¯ Matamoras #374 Free and Accepted Masons at 301 Main St. will hold a community breakfast buffet from 8 to 11 a.m. May 7. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, hash browns, biscuits, pancakes, a cinnamon roll, orange juice and coffee. Carry-out available. Suggested donation is $7 per person. Profits benefit Grand Lodge of Ohio Charitable Foundation, the Ohio Masonic Home and local charities.

¯ The Frontier High School Alumni Association Committee from the classes of 1969-1990 will host a golf scramble at 9 a.m. May 7 at the St. Marys golf course in St. Marys. The alumni is hosting a four man 18 hole $200 entry fee scramble. All proceeds benefit the Frontier Alumni Association 1969-1990 Scholarship fund. ¯ The Knights of Columbus 4617 in Churchtown will host A Night at the Races May 7 at the venue at 17472 OH-676, Marietta. ¯The Williamstown Area Kiwanis WHS Key Club, WHS Builders Club & WES K-Kids invite you to the Annual Mother’s Day Flower Sale. The sale will be held on Saturday, May 7th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tomblinson Park. There will be a variety of Hanging Baskets & Potted Flowers available! All proceeds to benefit the Williamstown Area Kiwanis.

¯Mother’s Day Dinner will be held Sunday, May 8, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Church St. Rt. 145 Harriettsville. ¯ The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley is holding its 300 Club Fundraiser. There will be a weekly drawing for $100 for 51 weeks, with a final drawing for $500. ¯ Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., will offer a free take-out meal from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first Friday of each month. All are welcome.

¯ First Congregational Church United Church of Christ (318 Front St. in Marietta) will continue its weekly free breakfast as take-out from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Saturday. All are welcome.

¯ Gilman UMC will hold Sunday School for K-12 from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. the first Sunday of each month. Parents are welcome to join the adult class which meets in the lounge or join Coffee Time for light refreshments and to meet the congregation. Face masks are mandatory for children and parents.

Classes/Workshops/Programs/Seminars

¯ The O’Neill Center will host a Walkers’ Club at 10 a.m. each Tuesday, weather permitting. Walkers may bring friends, family or dogs with them. The group will meet at the O’Neill Center to sign in. To register, call 373-3914.

¯ The Lakeside Ladies Golf Association will begin its Tuesday morning 9-hole Golf League April 26 at Lakeside Golf Course in Beverly through the last Tuesday in September. ¯ Gilman UMC at 312 Gilman Avenue will offer a faith-based cancer support group the second Monday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. beginning May 9. Attendees may bring a brown bag lunch. ¯ A GriefShare Program will be offered from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays through May 12 at Gilman United Methodist Church inside the Fellowship Hall. ¯ Registration is open for Summer Youth Soccer Camps for ages 5-12 at Broughton Nature and Wildlife Education Area fields off of 821 by the Marietta Family YMCA. The dates are June 6-10, July 11-15 and Aug. 1-5. One week camp fee is $60 for 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. ¯ The O’Neill Center in Marietta will host Bingo at 9:30 a.m. Thursday mornings. Doors open at 8 a.m. There is no cost at the door to play 20 games, and it is a nickel per card per game. Seating is limited.

¯ The O’Neill Center will host a Tech Lab with a Marietta College student from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays to answer questions about new phones, tablets, computers and social media. Space is limited; call 740-373-3914 for availability.

Miscellaneous

¯ The Watertown Township Board of Trustees will offer the residents of the township the opportunity to purchase chip and seal at $3.25 per foot. Interested residents must let one of the trustees know by May 1, 2022 with full payment to be made to Watertown Township by May 9, 2022.
