Using modern technologies, such as webinars, in the healthcare industry helps to continuously optimize the execution of care and streamline processes that support and enable efficient care delivery. Webinars can also help break down collaborative boundaries, allowing faster clinical discovery. Similarly, educational webinars and web conferencing technologies have recently received more attention. Students do not need to spend money on transportation or lodging to receive an education. Similarly, the educational institution does not need to make significant space or class size investments to accommodate new pupils. Thus, the growing use of webinars is driving the event management platform market growth.

Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on North America Event Management Platform Market:
The dramatic shift to virtual events created new challenges for event planners, such as rethinking plans and designs, managing remote speakers to deal with new technologies, and finding interesting ways of keeping people engaged. Moreover, the declining gross domestic product (GDP) of the region hampered the event management platform market growth. The COVID-19 crisis has drastically forced event planners to switch from in-person meetings to virtual meetings.

Virtual events connect Global Campus families – WSU Insider

Global Connections, Washington State University Global Campus’ student involvement program, is launching a new series of virtual events designed to provide a fun and engaging way for Global Campus students with children to connect with their families as well as other Coug parents.

Titled “Cougs and Their Cubs,” the event series consists of child-centered activities students can participate in with their kids, as well as virtual social events for Coug parents on their own.

“Cougs and Their Cubs is all about giving Global Campus students a fun opportunity to connect, network and engage with their families and fellow Cougs,” said Amanda Terry, a Global Campus student ambassador who is coordinating the event series. “It’s all about building community, both within our own families and within our worldwide family of Global Campus Cougs.”

The first official Cougs and Their Cubs event is scheduled for June 28. “Cougs, Cubs, and Cupcakes” will be a cupcake decorating event for Global Campus students and their kids ahead of the July 4th holiday. The online event is open to all Global Campus students.

“As a current Global Campus student and parent of three, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to juggle college and family life,” said Terry. “We want to provide an inclusive space for parents to take a breath, have some fun with their kids, and interact with their peers who are going through the same types of life experiences that they are.”

After the kickoff event in June, monthly Cougs and Their Cubs events are planned for fall semester. Planned events include a “back-to-school tips” discussion and Coug coffee hour for parents only, a pumpkin patch story hour and holiday ornament making party for parents and their kids.

“All these events will revolve around students who are parents. Some events, we want to make fun and engaging for the whole family, said Andria Donnenwerth, director of the Global Connections program, but we also want to include some events where our student-parents can have a little break and just socialize among their peers,”

Though the cupcake decorating event is the first official event of the series, Global Campus has recently completed a few “test case” events as a proof of concept for the Cougs and Their Cubs series, with very positive results.

Precursors to Cougs and Their Cubs included a virtual, family bingo night, a Dr. Suess reading day, and a virtual coffee hour for parents to discuss life balance.

“The events went very well. We received great feedback from those in attendance, and we knew that this was an idea we wanted to pursue on a more regular basis,” said Andrea Jimenez, Global Connections program coordinator, who helped run the precursor events.

“Both parents and kids involved had a lot of fun at these events, and that was great to see. We’re looking forward to the future Cougs and Cubs events that we have planned and know that it will be a great new addition to our programming here at Global Campus.”

The Global Connections program serves WSU Global Campus students by offering engaging co- and extra-curricular events and activities—free and fully online. Through Global Connections, students can connect with peers and expert presenters via webinars, livestreamed events, activities, academic contests, and more.

Singapore bounces back as global events organizer

Singapore bounces back as global events organizer

Singapore’s reopening of its borders is jump-starting its once thriving corporate events sector, with the strong “pent-up demand” for face-to-face gatherings and networking seen to sustain the industry in the next two to three years, experts said.

“It would be very fair to say the recovery is very real. It’s real because people are coming back to conventions and exhibitions,” said Richard Ireland, president of the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers.

The Singapore Tourism Board, or STB, forecast that the industry of Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions, or MICE, will enjoy full recovery in two to three years. Industry players are likewise optimistic, noting that after a two-year hiatus, the city-state is once again hosting some of the biggest international events. These include the Shangri-La Dialogue and the Food and Hotel Asia Food and Beverage trade event that will be held in September.

Ireland expects that full recovery is possible in less than two years, noting that there is strong “pent-up demand “for the desire of people to have face-to-face meetings and networking.

Lawrence Loh, director at the Centre for Governance and Sustainability at the National University of Singapore, said the MICE sector might even “recover sooner than later” and “this may take place even earlier than two to three years’ time”.

“It is just like the aviation and hospitality industry right now when the recovery has been faster than anticipated. Many entities are currently facing severe crunches to even fill up job vacancies to cater to the sudden rise in demand,” Loh told China Daily.

As one of the world’s key financial centers and a global aviation hub, Singapore is home to the thriving MICE industry. The industry’s annual revenue hit S$3.8 billion ($2.73 billion) and accounted for 0.8 percent of the GDP prior to the pandemic.

The industry, however, is also one of the hardest hit by the pandemic as closed borders and social distancing measures hindered mass gatherings. But in October 2020, the STB started to accept applications for organizers to pilot MICE events of up to 250 attendees. The Singaporean government has also developed testing protocols for foreign delegates and other visitors.

Last year, Singapore hosted over 200 events. In the first quarter of this year, Singapore hosted more than 150 events attended by over 37,000 delegates.

Jean-Francois Quentin, the group CEO of events organizer Constellar, said the MICE sector has shown signs of recovery and accelerated growth ever since the government lifted travel and social gathering restrictions in April. He said for the second half of the year, Singapore has secured at least 66 international events and already has a number of events lined up for next year.

Ireland said the pandemic has encouraged event organizers to be “more mindful and well prepared for the safety of our customers”.

The sentiment weakened further as global tumbled ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy meeting this week.

Meanwhile, last week the BSE Sensex touched a high of 55,832 early in the week, and thereafter drifted to a low of 54,206, and finally ended the week with a loss of 1,466 points or 2.6 per cent.

The NSE Nifty shed 2.3 per cent to 16,202, and the Bank Nifty dropped 2.2 per cent.

This week, all eyes will be on the US Fed’s two-day monetary policy meeting on June 14 and 15, where investors will track Fed chair Jerome Powell’s outlook on energy prices, and economic recovery.

According to a Reuters poll, the US Fed is expected to hike interest rate by 50 basis points in June and July, with higher probability of a similar rate hike in September.

That apart, Bank of England and Bank of Japan are also slated to take interest rate decisions on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Back home, will take note of crucial numbers.

The Consumer Price Index-based inflation for May will be announced on Monday, followed by Wholesale Price Index-based inflation on Tuesday.

Technically, weekly trend for the Nifty has turned bearish with its 20-Weekly Moving Average slipping below the -.

The broader trend indicates that the index could slide towards 15,800 – 15,300 if the 50-pack index fails to cross 16,900 level.

Against this backdrop, the NSE Nifty may test its support at 16,000-mark, below which the next significant support is at 15,800.
