Green Guide for Events | City of Little Rock

In our studies, we have found that the simplest measures are the most effective ones. We encourage all local events to start their journey Towards Zero Waste by focusing on the elimination of individual items of trash and single-use plastic from their event footprint. We strongly encourage anyone starting on this journey to focus wholly on each individual item and its total eradication before moving onto the next. Your vendors and attendees need realistic, achievable goals, and you must support them in their efforts while enforcing your guidelines. Volunteers will be a crucial component to your success, as they will be educators and enforcers on the day(s) of your event.

We have developed a 3-pronged approach to the creation of our sustainability guidelines:

What the event can do.
What the vendors can do.
What the attendees can do.

What the Event Organizer Can Do

INFORM

Communicating your guidelines clearly and confidently to your vendors, attendees, and community is critical to your success.

EDUCATE

Share resources with your vendors, tips with your attendees, and use signage and volunteers on the day(s) of your event to help everyone succeed (and take lessons home that positively impact the community).

ENFORCE

Event organizers must be adamant about the sustainability goals and define a system for dealing with nonobservance (particularly with vendors). Use signage and volunteers on the day(s) of your event to enforce efforts.

What the Vendors Can Do

ACCEPT

We all have to recognize that how we are packaging and selling products is mostly unsustainable. Take responsibility for your business and home, and realize that being a steward of the Natural State is for future generations and the convenience of today should not be first priority.

ABIDE

Respect the goals of the event and do your part when packaging and presenting your product. Imagine if you had to personally deal with all of the waste from your product – make it minimal, biodegradable, and/or easily recyclable.

THRIVE

We know that humans must curtail our single-use, convenience-driven lifestyles to expect a future home for their progeny. That being said, this is still a trend that is gaining much traction! Share your successes with your patrons, and you will both be gratified at buying your product!

What the Event Attendees Can Do

REACT

Share and support your efforts online and by word of mouth! Give plenty of opportunity for the community to engage and react to your sustainability goals.

RESPECT

On the day of the event, attendees must come prepared to meet your goals. By bringing their own vessels, saying no to straws, and separating waste properly, everyone will be contributing to keeping the Natural State litter-free.

RELIVE

Urge attendees and the community to take these lessons beyond your event. Challenge them with ways to think outside the “plastic box” and engage with them on their efforts as a follow up!

Genshin Impact ‘Evermotion Mechanical Painting’ event guide

Genshin Impact ‘Evermotion Mechanical Painting’ event guide

“Evermotion Mechanical Painting” is the latest Genshin Impact event that requires you to solve a quick puzzle to get a handful of Primogems. Our Genshin Impact “Evermotion Mechanical Painting” event guide lists out the solutions for each puzzle.

The basis is simple: you need to place gears in the pegs so the blue gear (which will be spinning) will power up the painting so that the green gear spins. The quest to start the event is in Mondstadt, marked by a gear on your map.

Below, we provide the solutions for the gear puzzles that we used.

Toronto Caribbean Carnival is back. Here’s your guide to events happening this weekend

Toronto Caribbean Carnival is back. Here’s your guide to events happening this weekend

Toronto, get ready. The annual Caribbean Carnival is happening this weekend. Whether you’re going out with friends, family or to party, there will be something fun for everyone to enjoy.

Here’s everything you need to know about this weekend’s festivities:

The Grand Parade

After two years of pandemic-related cancellations, Toronto Caribbean Carnival’s Grand Parade is back this year at Exhibition Place.

The Grand Parade will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. An opening ceremony will kick the day off at 9:30 a.m. and the parade will begin at 10 a.m. Most of the parade will take place along Lake Shore Boulevard. Only registered participants and masqueraders are allowed on the parade route itself, but it’s free for spectators along Lake Shore. You won’t be able to get to the Lake Shore through Exhibition Place, so plan accordingly.

Depending on which side of Lake Shore you plan to watch from, parks will offer amenities like washrooms and emergency services — on the east side, at Ontario Place; on the west side turn to Marilyn Bell Park where there will also be food vendors.

At Exhibition Place, there is ticketed bleacher seating for viewing the parade. The grounds also offer live music, food vendors highlighting Caribbean cuisine and a beer garden.

Tickets and more information are available online at torontocarnival.ca.

Plan to take GO Transit or the TTC as parking will be scarce.

Some roads will be closed for Carnival from 2 a.m. on Saturday to 8 a.m. on Sunday:

• Lake Shore Boulevard West from Colborne Lodge Drive to Bathurst Street

• Strachan Avenue from Fleet Street to Lake Shore Boulevard West

• Jameson Avenue from Springhurst Avenue to Lake Shore Boulevard West

• Dunn Avenue at Springhurst Avenue

• Dufferin Street at Springhurst Avenue

• Fort York Boulevard between Fleet Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West

• The westbound Gardiner Expressway off-ramp to Dunn and Jameson Avenues (Exit 149)

Pan Alive Steel Pan Showcase

Steel pan is traditionally associated with the Caribbean islands and is a cornerstone of calypso and soca music. Pan Alive, put on by the Ontario Steel Pan Association, will showcase the bright and vibrant sounds of the steel pan at Lamport Stadium on Friday. Tickets are available at torontocarnival.ca.

Party with basketball legends

Toronto, this weekend is your chance to party with two NBA legends.

On Friday, American basketball superstar LeBron James is kicking off Carnival weekend hosting the sixth annual DAYLIGHT party at Lavelle’s rooftop pool and lounge bar. Tickets for the event are available on Ticket Gateway for $200. The event is organized by Toronto Caribbean Carnival and James’ tequila brand, Lobos. The party is from 1 to 7 p.m. at 627 King St. W.

And, fresh off the Warriors’ NBA championship, all-star basketball player Andrew Wiggins is in town hosting a party at Arcane nightclub on Saturday celebrating Carnival weekend. This is the official parade after-party and will go from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. at 461 King St. W. Tickets are available on Ticket Gateway for $60.

Drake’s “Road to OVO Fest Tour”

Drake is putting on shows featuring various hip hop and R&B artists in Toronto all weekend as a part of his “October World Weekend Road to OVO Fest Tour.” On Friday, see Chris Brown and Lil Baby perform at Budweiser Stage.

Also at Budweiser Stage, Drake is performing with Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj for a Young Money reunion show on Monday. Tickets are available online at LiveNation.com.

Argonauts Caribbean Carnival Night

BMO Field will be decked out in colourful Carnival decorations for Caribbean Carnival Night. The pre-game party will start at 3:30 p.m. and feature masqueraders, a steel pan band, DJ and lots of soca music to match the vibe.

The Argonauts will take on the Ottawa Redblacks Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets and more information are available online at argonauts.ca/tickets.

Island Soul

Bringing island vibes, music and family-friendly events to the Harbourfront Centre, Island Soul has something in store for everybody. Most of the events are free and run Friday through Monday. Dance at the silent disco in the South Lawn featuring soca, dancehall and reggae, learn dance styles from across the African diaspora at a dance workshop with Afiwi Groove Dance, and enjoy live music from reggae to soca to jazz. Learn more and explore the full program online at harbourfrontcentre.com.

Carnival City at Ajax Downs

Celebrate Carnival in Durham at Ajax Downs. Carnival City’s 12 days of programming runs until Aug. 7. On Monday, celebrate Emancipation Day at Carnival City with live traditional and cultural performances to entertain the whole family. A calypso music showcase is scheduled for 2 p.m. At 4 p.m. take in a theatrical production telling the story of emancipation and the history of Caribbean Carnival through dance and music. And, dance all night to a tribute performance for the late great soca artist Blaxx. Get tickets and more information online at houseofculture.ca.

Bob Marley One Love Experience

In sync with Toronto’s Caribbean Carnival season this month, “Bob Marley One Love Experience” is open at the Lighthouse ArtSpace in Toronto. The show features six rooms that showcase art, music, photos, memorabilia and immersive displays. Listen to Marley’s music in a virtual concert experience, view a huge portrait of Marley by artist Mr. Brainwash, and delve into Marley’s personal interests, including his family and football. The exhibit was organized in collaboration with the musician’s family and will run through Aug. 14. Timed-entry tickets start at $20 and are available at bobmarleyexp.com

Meta Launches Updated Safety Guide for Athletes Ahead of Major Sporting Events

Meta Launches Updated Safety Guide for Athletes Ahead of Major Sporting Events

With several major sporting events coming up, including the Commonwealth Games and the 2022 World Cup, Meta has launched an updated version of its safety guide for athletes, which provides a range of notes on how to manage your Facebook and Instagram experience to avoid spam, scams, abuse and more.

The 39-page guide is a handy reference guide to all of the various safety tools in both apps, which is not only relevant for athletes, but could also be of value to anyone looking to get a better understanding of their protection and moderation options in each.

As per Meta:

“This guide is designed to help you prevent, protect, moderate, and escalate on both Facebook and Instagram. We will run through how to protect your password, set up two-factor authentication, understand Page access and take action when you’ve been hacked. We will also walk through how to moderate your Pages, and how to escalate when you experience bullying and harassment.”

The guide includes helpful overviews of each key element, including how to create a strong password:

Meta Safety Guide for Athletes

How to set up two-factor authentication (a key step for account security):

Meta Safety Guide for Athletes

There are also notes on the various moderation and safety tools available on Facebook:

Meta Safety Guide for Athletes

And more specific explainers on things like how to report a profile for impersonation:

Meta Safety Guide for Athletes

As noted, the focus is professional athletes, so some aspects will be of more relevance to those in the spotlight. But it’s a handy overview of the various options and controls on offer, while Meta also includes some pointers on how to maximize fan engagement on your Page:

  • Respond to comments on Facebook – When you engage in the comments section on your own posts (responding to comments or simply contributing to the conversation), the posts may be shown again in your followers’ Feeds, which increases reach and engagement. Responding to comments on your posts also elevates them to the top of your discussion thread.
  • Start with the “Most Relevant” view on Facebook – When looking at the comments section on your post or video, confirm you are looking at the “Most Relevant” view to ensure high quality comments from fans, and comments from other public figures, creators and verified accounts are at the top. This will make it easier and more efficient for you to engage.
  • Pin comments on Instagram – Consider pinning a few comments to the top of your post. By highlighting positive comments, you can better manage the tone of the conversation.

Nothing groundbreaking, as such, but some good reminders of the value of such engagement to help maximize post reach and engagement.

It’s a handy guide, which could be valuable for your process.

Call for listings in Campaign’s PR & Events Guide 2022 - Campaign Middle East

Campaign Middle East is pleased to announce the listings open for the annual PR, Events & Experiential Guide 2022 along with the Online Directory listings.

This guide would be circulated on 29th Aug  2022 and it would be a comprehensive, all information in one, hands-on guide on PR & Events companies in the region.

Here are some quick pointers on our annual PR and Events Guide 2022:
1. The PR Guide will be a ready reference for brands managers, clients and other industry professionals looking for a PR agency, and for journalists looking for contacts. As a directory, it will list key clients, agency contacts and vital company information.

2. Building on the success of Campaign’s annual directories and guides rolled out over the last five years (including Digital, Media & Creative Agency Guides and TV, Radio Guide and Outdoor Guides), Campaign’s PR & Events Agency Guide is now in its 4th year running.

3. Basic listings are free, as we want to be as comprehensive as possible, so make sure we have your details. Enhanced listings are also available to make your agency stand out from the crowd. Get in touch now to share your details and ensure your place in what is sure to become the industry’s go-to reference source.

4. We are also looking at featuring Case Studies this year, so please send us the best work you have done with your partners that will inspire and showcase your agency’s strength.

5. Campaign ME has also digitized its directories, with each agency having their own page hosted in the Campaign’s Online Agency Directory on Campaign’s website . Clients and brands will use this directory to search for agencies based on their services requirement. We will feature in each of your agency page all the latest news, articles, contact details, work, clients and all related information that we featured in Campaign, so it will be updated throughout the year with fresh news, editorial articles, clients work and all related information, making it a good place for all brands and clients to see the work you have been doing and the news that you have been making and in this way contributing to lead generation.
